2009 Scholarship Award

Kathryn M. "Kate" Lundvall of Richmond, Virginia, is the 2009-10
recipient of the Virginia Society's Scholarship Award Program. The
VSSR established the program in 1989 to recognize outstanding
undergraduate and graduate students and "to foster a general
interest in and appreciation for the events and people of the
American Revolution."
Both descendants and non-descendants of Revolutionary War Patriots
are eligible to participate.
Miss Lundvall, a senior at the University of Delaware, wrote an
outstanding essay on the public service of her fifth
great-grandfather, entitled, "John Marshall, Legal Mind of the
American Revolution." Chief Justice John Marshall, Miss Lundvall
notes, "has come to be remembered as the creator of the justice
